BATFAM AU HISTORY - much of laurel's life will be the same as it is on failrrow arrow, especially in the first few seasons. in this au though laurel is actually a meta human. laurel's powers activate for the first time when her younger sister, sara, dies (in season 3). this time though, while holding sara's body laurel doesn't just cry - she screams. and her grief activates her canary cry. despite her new found abilities no name brand batman oliver refuses to train her, thinking her powers are too dangerous. - laurel starts to train on her own and later ends up hospitalized because she can't control her power and loses a fight against the abusive boyfriend of someone in her alcoholics' anonymous group. despite that and everyone telling her no, laurel continues to train. eventually getting her own suit and adopting the name black canary. - she eventually starts fighting alongside the rest of oliver's team but never feels at home with them. she's the only one with abilities and there is no one who understands or can help her. everyone else on the team constantly belittles her and tells her she isn't sara and her abilities don't make her a hero. - despite this she starts to make a name for herself and people start to see - when the position of district attorney opens up following the death of harvey dent, laurel decides to go for it. realizing that as much as loves her city and wants to help protect it she can do more good somewhere else. and when she gets the position she leaves starling city with no ties or regrets. - a few months after she started to work in gotham city the black canary made her first appearance. soon after laurel met bruce wayne. OTHER NOTES - oliver is not the love of her life. if an oliver (dctv, comics, au, etc;) ever joins i'm open to exploring this but as of now arrow oliver sucks and laurel deserves better. she doesn't have much contact with anyone from team arrow anymore. - this version of laurel's sara is still dead.
